Top 8 jewelry trends of 2013

With every season comes new trends and styles that fashionistas can't wait too try out, and now that 2013 is underway, you may be wondering what the hottest jewelry trends are in 2013. Here are some of the must-have jewels that will stay "in" all year long, so stock up!

1. Emerald
Every year, it seems as though once Pantone Color Institute announces the color of the year, costume jewelry is quickly sporting this hue. This was no different for 2103, as it is easy to spot this bold green color on necklaces, bracelets and earrings. Emerald is the color of the year, and it is certainly a great color to incorporate into your jewelry.

2. Snake-inspired jewelry
Snake-inspired jewelry has been popular as of late, and it is now hotter than ever before. These slithering rings and bracelets make for an edgy, yet chic addition to your jewelry collection, and high-end designers are getting on board with this serpent trend.

3. Statement earrings
These have been on trend for the past couple of seasons, and they have yet to wane. The best way to wear these big and bold earrings is to forgo the necklace and make sure they do not go past your neckline.

4.  Neon-colored jewels
The brighter, the better, was the theme of last year's jewels, and this is no different coming into 2013. In fact, neon hues are getting the most attention when it comes to jewelry, and this look can give that extra pizzazz to any ensemble.

5. Metal link chains
Metal link chain bracelets and necklaces are growing in popularity at a rapid pace, especially the large metal links. Not only will you be able to find this style in jewelry, but also on other accessories like purses as well.

6. Statement cuff bracelets
A big and bold cuff bracelet is the perfect way to complete an outfit, whether it brings a pop of color or is silver or bronze, it certainly makes a statement. Even though layering is in style these days, it is important to not put two of these massive cuffs on one wrist - instead, use one and then pair it with a number of smaller bangles.

7. Mixing metals
The days of matching only silver or only gold are a thing of the past, as mixing metals has never been more acceptable. Stack on those bracelets - everything from rose gold to black ruthenium - with pops of color to really give a standout look.

8.  Hair ornaments
If you happen to catch the Oscars, which - let's face it - you likely did, you may have noticed that gorgeous sparkling hair brooch that Sandra Bullock wore. The stunning starlet looked lovely with the clip in her hair, and this is one of the many trends as of late - the glitzier, the better!

The best part is, you do not have to break the bank to get some of these trends, as you can purchase costume jewelry such as the Bezel-Set Green Malachite Drop Pierced Earrings In 14k Gold-Plate for much less.
