Jennifer Lawrence went into the Oscars as a front-runner for the Best Actress award for her role in "Silver Linings Playbook," and many speculated that as one of the faces of Dior, she would wear - well, Dior. However, the lovable actress was still able to bring a few elements of surprise to the film industry's biggest night with her down-to-earth demeanor and quick wit. Not to mention, the Dior Haute Couture gown she chose quickly topped the best dressed lists across the board.
According to People magazine, Lawrence opted for a strapless textured gown that billowed beneath her waist, and she paired it with a Roger Vivier clutch and Chopard jewels, including dazzling diamond drop earrings and an intricate necklace that she wore down her back. She completed the look with her hair in an updo.
"I am surprisingly comfortable. I kind of feel like a high-maintenance pain in the ass because there is a 5-foot circumference around me," the 22-year-old actress told Us Weekly on the red carpet. "I didn't try any other dresses. When I put this one on, I knew."
However, what she did not anticipate was how the dress would affect her as she walked up to receive her accolade. In fact, she was so concerned with what she was going to say, she didn't even think about tripping - which is exactly what happened.
"My biggest fear is speaking in public, so I start to get fear and anxiety if I start to prepare [an acceptance speech] because I think of the moment. A lot of times on the walk up there is when I start thinking about what I'm going to say," Lawrence told the publication.
After she tripped on her way up to get her award, the audience started to stand up and Lawrence made a little joke at her expense.
"You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell - it's really embarrassing," Lawrence told the audience. "This is nuts!"
Now with the awards season behind her, Lawrence admitted she can't wait to snuggle up on the couch with a bottle of wine, with her Oscar, Golden Globe and SAG Award sitting nearby, the media outlet reports.
Those who want to emulate Lawrence's style can do so by purchasing costume jewelry such as the White And Grey Cultured Freshwater Pearl Rolo-Link Necklace In Sterling Silver for much less.
